How Your Kids Can Help
We need your help to bring sweet sleep to the world’s orphans, so that they can have a place to sleep which comforts them and helps place them into homes of loving families.

Mission Projects for Kids
You can help your kids help kids halfway around the world through Sweet Sleep’s Build-A-Bed campaign. Your kids can take up offerings and see how many beds they can provide while learning about the needs of orphaned and abandoned children.

  • $8 provides a mosquito net to orphans in Africa or Haiti.
  • $10 provides a Bible to an orphan in his or her language.
  • $50 provides a bed and bedding for orphan in northern Uganda.
  • $125 provides a healthy, comfortable new Sweet Sleep bed for a child in Africa.
  • $167 provides a Sweet Sleep bed for an orphan in Haiti.
  • $200 provides a comfy Sweet Sleep bed for a Moldovan orphan.

The Build-A-Bed campaign is:

  • Flexible! You pick your project dates – VBS, summer camp, fall retreat, Sunday School – anytime is a great time to teach your kids about the needs of orphans.
  • Easy! Once you pick your dates, we’ll get you the materials you need to get your kids ready to learn about helping orphans.
  • Effective. More than likely, every kid in your church has a bed and can relate to a child that may not have a clean, comfortable place to sleep.

Build-A-Bed campaigns have raised thousands of dollars for beds for orphans: 100 preschoolers collected $1,000 during VBS, 300 4th-6th graders gave over $3,500 at summer camp, and 350 school-aged kids raised over $5,000 at VBS! How much can your kids raise? You’ll be amazed how your kids connect with helping other kids.

“I’ve never seen a mission project that our kids related to so well! It made sense – our kids could help other kids have a new, comfortable and safe place to sleep. Our kids really got behind this project and gave more than they ever have before!”- Connie Hartzell, Preschool Minister, ClearView Baptist Church

INSOMNIA

How Your Students Can Help

You can help your students help kids in the United States and halfway around the world by participating in an INSOMNIA campaign. At INSOMNIA, your students will stay up all night to experience the lack of comfortable sleep millions of orphans suffer through every night. Students can see how many beds they can provide by getting pledges from friends and family while raising awareness of the needs of orphaned and abandoned children.

INSOMNIA is:

  • Flexible! You pick your dates, your schedule and your time frame for collecting donations. Camp mission project, lock-in/all-nighter, Sunday School missions emphasis – any time is a good time to engage your students in ministering to orphans. Typical campaign events are based around a 12-hour evening event with a midnight worship experience. We’ll help you customize an event that fits your church calendar and the interests and schedules of your students.
  • Easy! Once you pick your dates, we’ll get you the materials you need to get your students excited about attending INSOMNIA as well as campaign elements for your event including videos, promotional pieces, missions moments, Bible studies and more.
  • Effective. More than likely, every student in your church has a bed and can relate to a child or student their age that needs a clean, comfortable place to sleep. INSOMNIA campaigns have raised thousands of dollars for beds for orphans. How much can your students raise? You’ll be amazed how your students connect with helping other students sleep sweetly.

“INSOMNIA was a great excuse to get my students out of their comfort zones and see that there are students in other parts of the world who are suffering. Our event was on Halloween night — making it even more fun to stay up all night, eat lots of candy and learn about the needs of orphaned and abandoned children! We used the night as a kick-off to a 6 week campaign to raise money for beds and our students loved the chance to spend their holiday season thinking about the needs of others.”
- Nic Allen, Student Pastor, Rolling Hills Community Church

Nickels for Nets

nickels-for-nets-logo
Nickels for Nets is a challenging, educational and fun campaign to get kids involve with our goal to provide life-saving mosquito nets for orphaned and abandoned children in malaria affected areas.

Children in classes will be asked to earn or raise as much money as possible (whether in the form of nickels, change or dollars) to provide life-saving mosquito nets to other children in Third World countries. Each mosquito net is only $8, so for every 160 nickels (or 800 pennies, 32 quarters, 80 dimes, etc.) a child raises, a net will be provided to an orphaned or abandoned child in immediate need of a mosquito net.

The Nickels for Nets campaign will also educate children on the importance of using mosquito nets in other parts of the world. Without these nets, children are susceptible to malaria and its dangerous, deadly effects.

“Did you know…”

Cerebral malaria (the worst case of the disease) can kill a child in 72 hours after being bitten by the infected mosquito.

Nickels for Nets collection boxes will be given to students to take home to engage their friends, parents and others to help your campaign meet—and even surpass—-your goal!

If you would like for your child’s class at school, your child’s soccer team, children’s ministry at church, etc. to take part in this fun, educational campaign, please call 615.730.7671 or e-mail: students@sweetsleep.org.

CAN SLEEPING IN A PARKING LOT REALLY CHANGE A LIFE?
WONDER WHAT IT’S LIKE TO GROW UP IN POST WAR-TORN NORTHERN UGANDA?

STOP WONDERING. DISPLACE YOURSELF.

750,000 children in northern Uganda are now growing up in “child-headed” households. They’ve lost their parents from war or disease—like HIV/AIDS or malaria.

Imagine: you’re 15 and you’re the head of the house, responsible for your 4 younger brothers and sisters. You must make choices, daily, on whether you’ll go to school or find some work. If you go to school, there is no money to buy food for dinner that night. If you choose work, then you will be more likely to have a simple dinner. But, you gave up school to make that happen. If you don’t go to school, what will happen to your dreams?

In northern Uganda, the more than 22-year attacks by the LRA (Lord’s Resistance Army), are a memory. Still fresh, but each day allows these children and teenagers the opportunity to put a little more distance between the terror they lived with and the hope they have in tomorrow.

Sleeping in a parking lot can change lives. By participating in an Under the Stars lock-out campaign, you will experience what it’s like to live in one of these huts, and not have a healthy, comfortable place to sleep. As they prepare to sleep on the cold, hard ground, looking up at the stars, your students will hear the stories of children and young adults just like them who are sleeping under the same sky – children who are praying for hope and love to come to them.

You will be changed.

And the lives of orphans thousands of miles away will be changed, too.

A resettlement kit for one of these children, including a straw mat, comfortable mattress, warm blanket, life-saving mosquito net and a Bible in their own language is just $50. How many kids can your group resettle?

To sign up for an Under the Stars campaign at your university, school or community, e-mail students@sweetsleep.org or call 615-730-7671.
