Greetings from Sweet Sleep! Less than one year ago, we shared our vision to provide 2,500 beds to orphaned and vulnerable children around the world – an 80% increase over the previous year. We’re overjoyed to share that by the end of this week, we will have not only met, but exceeded that goal, thanks to your incredible generosity!
In all, 2,534 children will be sleeping sweetly in their own beds. We’ve focused our work on the most vulnerable children – at-risk and children living in foster care in the US, those living with HIV/AIDS in malaria-prevalent areas, and now, special needs and disabled children in northern Uganda.
This week, we are distributing 1,100 of these beds in northern Uganda. This is the second largest distribution event in the history of Sweet Sleep, so we ask for your prayers. Pray for the logistics of handling such a large quantity of beds, and pray that through these beds, the communities of Uganda see the physical demonstration of the spiritual rest they find in Christ’s love for them.
We’ll be posting stories, photos, and updates here, and through various social media outlets. I’ll also be sharing my relationships and first-hand experience on my personal blog at madelenemetcalf.com. I invite you to follow these stories as they unfold.
On behalf of the international staff of Sweet Sleep, I thank you for your faithful support. It humbles me to see how God is working in and through this ministry to reach thousands of truly precious children.
