My 39th Birthday (Jerry Miele)

It’s been an adventurous and exciting trip so far. I celebrated my 39th birthday waking up for my first full day in Africa. That day my best friend, Alex, and I began our journey to meet up with the rest of the team who was already in Gulu, Uganda, which was to serve as our base of operations for the … Read More

Open Our Eyes (Tammy Pryor)

Our day began as I stepped out of my comfort zone by leading the morning devotion. I chose Exodus 3:11 where Moses feels incompetent to lead God’s people out of Egypt.  This scripture I found fitting for the ones where this is their first mission trip but equally fitting for even the seasoned missionary.  Each time I gear up for a … Read More

Eyes Opened (Karen Padgett)

Today was the beginning of my eyes being opened. In Matthew 25:40 the Bible says, the king will answer and say to them, Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did this to one of these brothers of mine, even the least of of them, you did it to Me. I have never thought of myself as wealthy. Comfortable yes. Today, … Read More

The Start to Uganda, November 2015 (Eddie Humphrey)

What a special day this has been. As I write this entry, it is hard to know exactly where to start. Our mission team is comprised of (10) participants from Texas, Tennessee and Indiana, plus (3) members of the incredible Sweet Sleep Staff. A personal sidebar real quick, this is my fourth consecutive year to travel to this dear African … Read More

Years in the Making

Minutes away from making history. Minutes away from boarding the flight that will take us to the poorest country in Europe – the country once known as the breadbasket of the Soviet Union and that is now in the crosshairs of a movement that could leave thousands of children forgotten. As Moldova closes its orphanages, Sweet Sleep has responded by educating, … Read More

Day of Rest (Spencer Key)

It’s 7:00am and most won’t be up for another hour. Today we travel to Gulu so we can distribute beds on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Monday will be about 3 hours drive away in Agoro, close to the Sudan border. Tuesday we will still be several hours out of Gulu in Oroko, and then Wednesday will be close by in … Read More

Gulu THANKS You!

One week ago, God took me to a place and showed me things that I had never experienced before. He then inspired words that told the story of a tiny village that had gone overlooked by all but Him. Until Now.  We must never underestimate the power of what good we can do in this world, together. Your response to … Read More

Our first full day in country..

Hey folks, this is Dan McBride and it is my turn to update you on our amazing adventure. Those two words (amazing adventure) define my day today. We started out visiting the Voice of Truth Church in Chisinau. This church is rather different from the standard church here in Moldova. This church opens its arms to the non-perfect and non-Christians. … Read More

The last two days at My People Children Home went by too quickly. On Thursday, the beds, blankets and Bibles arrived. We then spent about three hours unloading the beds, putting them together, and then arranging them in the boys and girls dorms. It was amazing to see the faces of the children when they saw the beds in place. … Read More

Want Versus Need

This whole trip has been a great experience, in that we are actually getting more blessings that the kids probably are. I realize how spoiled we are, how we have everything we need and most of what we want, yet are still complaining. They don’t even have some basic necessities of what they need, most of all a bed. I … Read More
