Opportunity and Circumstance

This morning I woke up in a bed. This afternoon I carried a child so sick with malaria he could not walk or talk. Why is it that I was chosen to wake up with a warm bed and a warm meal waiting on me when this child has to go through so much pain and starvation in a country that is desperately trying to survive? Today I saw that it is one thing to just write a check, but it is an entirely new, hard, eye-opening, heartbreaking, easy, and impacting thing to do when you actually pick a child up and hand them a bed and tell them “I love you, and you are His.”

Opportunity and circumstance are the only two things that separate me and the boy I carried today.

He did not choose to wake up where he did, he did not choose to get sick, he did not choose to not have a bed… he was simply just not afforded the same opportunity. Sweet Sleep is helping to provide the children who did not choose their circumstance a purpose to wake up, to spread the love of God, and to sleep sweetly at nights. I hope you will join me in trying to make a difference like the one made today for the little boy who did not have the chances that you or I have been afforded.
