Minutes away from making history. Minutes away from boarding the flight that will take us to the poorest country in Europe – the country once known as the breadbasket of the Soviet Union and that is now in the crosshairs of a movement that could leave thousands of children forgotten.
As Moldova closes its orphanages, Sweet Sleep has responded by educating, training, and recruiting Christian couples called to adoption and foster care. In the past 18 months, we’ve worked to place more than 30 Moldovan orphans into loving Christian Moldovan homes.
In partnership with Pure Religion from First Baptist Church of Whitehouse, Texas, we’ll be conducting an adoptive family summer camp. This team has rallied around Moldova and Sweet Sleep for years. They’ve grown with us, they’ve seen the changes happening, and they’ve responded in amazing ways.

When I first heard that the orphanages are closing, my thoughts went to one orphanage in particular. This orphanage was one that if my own child were born in Moldova, he would have grown up in because of his unique needs. I love to tell the story of how as a mom, I have given my child a different, better legacy. Because of that story, another mom is here with us this week who knows the same struggles and victories that I know.
I feel the presence of one of my favorite verses:
“I still have many things to tell you, but you can’t bear them now…” John 16:12
[av_heading heading=’God has taken me deeper into His kingdom.’ tag=’h3′ style=” size=” subheading_active=” subheading_size=’15’ padding=’6′ color=” custom_font=” custom_class=”][/av_heading]
– more than I could have possibly prayed for Him to. It’s heart wrenching, but in the most satisfying way because many of my friends and I are responding with a simple “Yes”. Just like many of YOU responded with a “yes” as I’ve asked for your help to get us there.
I’m almost holding my breath with anticipation of what I’ll see this week. I’m going to go deep into the villages and lives of the people of Moldova. They have stories – unimaginable ones I’m sure – and they deserve to be heard. The keepers of those stories are ready for what’s next, and I want to help get them there.
Sweet Sleep is changing because God is moving the orphan crisis. Pray as we seek solutions, as we show Christ’s love, and as we strive to provide complete healing to the family. Restoring families restores communities.[av_heading heading=’That could, just maybe, change the legacy of an entire country.’ tag=’h3′ style=” size=” subheading_active=” subheading_size=’15’ padding=’6′ color=” custom_font=” custom_class=”][/av_heading]
